The tabs on the Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kits are 2-1/4" wide inside to inside. These tabs are designed specially for Roadmaster tow bars such as the Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain Tow Bar part # RM-676. None of the manufacturers include covers with their tow bars because they want you to purchase them separately. For the Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar item # RM-522 you will want to use the Roadmaster Tow Bar Cover item # RM-055-3.

I have a solution for you but the Blue Ox Tow Bar Cover - Acclaim item # BX88156 is only 38 1/2" x 6". The Curt Rambler Tow Bar item # C26FR measures 31" long and 14". I contacted Curt and they do not currently have a tow bar cover available for purchase. I spoke to my contact at Roadmaster and he informed me that the dimensions of the arms of the Roadmaster Tracker Tow Bar part # RM-020 are 1-1/2 inches in tall and 1-1/2 inches in width. The length of the arms are also 34-1/4 inches. This tow bar is not sold without the cross bar either.

I have a solution for you but there are no D-ring adapters for the etrailer XHD Non-Binding Tow Bar item # e94ZR. I recommend using a Roadmaster Tow bar which we do have D-Ring adapters for. The Sterling All-Terrain Tow Bar item # RM-576 has a 8,000 lbs capacity and the Blackhawk Tow Bar item # RM-422 has a 10,000 lbs capacity.
With one of these tow bars you can use the D-Ring adapters item # RM-035-1 for 1" thick rings or item # RM-035 for 3/4" thick D rings.

They measure 39 inches when retracted and 48-3/4 inches when extended. This tow bar will fit Blue Ox base plates that measure between 16" and 36" apart on center.

I went out and measured the distance between where the legs of the tow bar attach on the Roadmaster Base Plate to Tow Ready Tow Bar Adapter, item # RM-025, and the on center measurement is 31 inches.
The distance on center between the mounting bolt holes that attach to the vehicle base plates is 28-1/2 inches.

I went out to the warehouse and pulled one of the brackets so I could measure the inside dimension of where it will attach to the tow bar. Correct, when flat towing a vehicle 4-wheels-down the only actual weight on the hitch will be that of a portion of the tow bar's weight. Some of the tow bar weight will be on the vehicle's front end so only a portion will be on the hitch side. If a tow bar isn't sitting with the accepted level range you will have a few issues. You will wear out the front suspension of the towed vehicle and you will wear out the front tires of the vehicle being towed.
Also, tow bars eventually will wear out over time. If you have an out of level setup the bar will wear out quicker too.
